Gastroscopy

GENERAL SURGERY – Gastroscopy

Gastroscopy is the most reliable method for diagnosing diseases of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. (Esophago: esophagus, Gastro: stomach, Duodeno: duodenum, Scopy: Examine) A thin, flexible tube with a camera on the end is inserted through the mouth to perform the examination. Since the stomach must be empty, patients must not eat or drink anything 6-8 hours prior to the procedure.
