GENERAL SURGERY - Breast Cancers
Breast cancers
Following Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy, core biopsy or a surgical biopsy on lesions that have been identified during examination or by imaging techniques, a range of suitable surgical options should be discussed with patients diagnosed with cancer. Breast and axilla-preserving surgery has replaced the radical surgical procedures used for cancer in the past. Breast-preserving surgery + axilla sentinel lymph node biopsy (+ axilla lymph node dissection if needed) is an alternative surgical treatment, which has become the golden standard for breast cancer diagnosed early.
